Over the past few weekends BARC has been unable to use its launch site due to FAA Presidential TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions). These TFRs extend radially 28 NMs from Wilmington, DE and prohibit any air traffic from the surface to 17,999 ft. MSL. Accordingly no Class 1 or Class 2 rocket operations are allowed while the TFR is in effect.
It is unknown at this time if these TFRs will continue. Nonetheless, BARC officials are investigating other options, including locating a low power field outside the TFR area. Please bear with us as we work to find a solution to this unexpected impact on our hobby….
10/20/21 Update: FAA Presidential TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) continue to prevent BARC weekend launches.
03/27/22 Update: BARC is continuing to try to work around Presidential TFRs and personal scheduling conflicts. More experienced club members may be encouraged to help run launches in the future so scheduling may be more flexible when we get a break with the TFRs.
